The Giants Causeway , Co. Antrim
The Giants Causeway is without a doubt Northern Ireland most visited tourist attraction. Legend says that the 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns were stepping stones created by the Giant Finn McCool on his way to Scotland. Another explanation for this extraordinary natural wonder is that they were formed from the crystallisation of red hot lava some 60 million years ago. There is a museum located 2 miles north of Bushmills, called The Giant's Causeway museum and is well worth a visit.
