Adare Manor is a magnificent gothic mansion, once the home of the Earls of Dunraven, set in 860 acres of private grounds beside the River Maigue.
Adare Manor is now a hotel and offers a full range of activities, including its own 18-hole golf course whilst it is well positioned for Ballybunion and day trips to Lahinch and Tralee are also possible.
This is one of the premier hotels in Ireland and the luxurious bedrooms and public rooms fit well with this.
The Quins, whose ancestors were Chiefs of the Clan Hy Ifearnan, gave their name to Inchiquin and also became Earls of Dunraven, and are one of the rare families of true Gaelic origin in the Irish peerage.
Thady Quin (born 1645), who settled in Adare, County Limerick, was the ancestor of Valentine Quin who, between 1720 and 1730, built the first Quin manor at Adare by the River Maigue.
Adare remained the home of the Earl of Dunraven until it was sold in 1987.
The family now lives off the estate in Kilgobbin House, Adare.
The house was purchased by Irish-American businessman Tom Kane who along with his wife Judy, set about restoring and converting the house into the magnificent development that today Adare Manor Hotel.
The house is set on an 860-acre estate and now operates as a five star hotel, featuring the Adare Golf Club, Elemis Treatment Rooms, Townhouses and Villas on the rest of the resort.
President Bill Clinton stayed in Adare Manor in September 1998.
The Manor was voted Ireland's Leading Hotel in the 2006 World Travel Awards.
The Adare Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, was added to the resort in 1995, and has been the venue for the Irish Open since 2007.
