Lough Allen - County Leitrim
Lough Allen is the first of the big Loughs on the River Shannon. It is about 8 miles long and 3 miles wide and lies between the Slieve Anierin Mountains to the east and the Arigina Mountains to the west. It is liable to blow up in windy conditions and a strong north-western wind can give rise to particularly squally conditions of which boat anglers should be aware.
