Kenmare lies on two of the more famous Irish tourist attractions, the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara, approximately 32 kilometres from Killarney. As a result, it is a very popular tourist destination and many of the businesses in the area cater to tourists. Since the late 1990s, this has led to a large amount of development work in residential accommodation. This impacted in a significant increase in the town's population, particularly during the peak tourist season. Kenmare is located at the head of Kenmare Bay sometimes called the Kenmare River where the Roughty River flows into the sea, and at the junction of the Iveragh Peninsula and the Beara Peninsula. It is a stunningly beautiful town with bewitching views of mountain and sea. The Kenmare Stone Circle is a well-known historical site and popular with visitors to the area. Kenmare is home to many hotels including the 5-star Park Hotel. Numerous activities include golf, fishing walking, hiking and spa and wellness facilities. Only the rest of Kerry is so beautiful, you would never leave this place!
