Shannon Region

In the mid west of Ireland, the Shannon Region, comprising the counties of Clare, Limerick, North Tipperary and South Offaly, offers the pastoral tranquility of the River Shannon and the open moors. Extending from the midlands to the Atlantic Ocean, the Shannon Region offers a wonderful holiday experience with a vast variety of things to see and do. Accommodation across all the ranges is available. Take a holiday here and enjoy a cruise on the River Shannon, take a walk in the unique Burren Way or book a city break in the riverside City of Limerick.

Do not miss an opportunity to visit the breath-taking Cliffs of Moher, which now has recently added incredible Visitor Centre set into the cliffs.   Explore the many beautiful villages and towns across the region, such as Lisdoonvarna, Doolin and Liscannor to name but a few.

From Doolin, you can get ferries to the Aran Islands every hour and if the opportunity presents itself to do so, you will not regret it. Lisdoonvarna is famous for a Matchmaking Festival held every September to which thousands flock from all over Ireland and abroad.
Further inland you will find the beautiful sister villages of Killaloe and Ballina, situated on Lough Derg, the former in County Clare and the latter in County Tipperary. Nenagh Town is close by and is the capital town of North Tipperary, whilst the town of Ennis, with its narrow streets, is county capital of Clare.

The Slieve Bloom Mountains in South Offaly are breathtaking and provide the visitor with unlimited opportunities for walking and hiking.

Limerick City is the capital of the region and is home to many attractions including numerous art galleries and museums. Limerick is great shopping and social city and is perfect base from which to explore the entire Shannon region. Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, with its famous banquets is west of Limerick City, just across the county boundary in Clare.

Shannon Airport , the second largest in Ireland, is west of Limerick City in County Clare. It has transatlantic, UK and European services and is a hugely important asset to the area from a tourism point of view,

Adare Village in County Limerick is home to Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort, a magnificent facility in a stunning beautiful village. Adare Manor hosted the Irish Open Golf Championship a number of times.

A trip to the Shannon Region will result in lots of good memories and a compelling desire to return.
