Druids Glen was originally the Woodstock Estate, which dates back to 1600, when it formed part of Sir Thomas Wentworth's landholding. Woodstock House, the clubhouse at Druids Glen, was built in 1770. The ideal location for a Dublin golfing holiday, the Druids Glen name originates from a stone altar of pre-Christian worship, which was discovered during the construction of the golf course, in the thickly forested area overlooking the 12th Green. Today, a Druid stands proudly at the site as a reminder of the history of the Glen.

Known as "the Augusta of Europe", the parkland in Druids Glen golf courses Wicklow, was designed by Pat Ruddy & Tom Craddock, opened in 1995 and was the Home of the Irish Open in 1996, '97, '98 and '99, with Colin Montgomerie winning twice, before losing a playoff to David Carter in 1998.
