Sutton Golf Club, Sutton, County Dublin
The late 19th Century saw Golf being played on the sandy peninsula here at Sutton, Dublin. The Club was then established in 1890 with the amalgamation of the Sutton Golf and Boat Clubs to become known as the Sutton Golf Club.
Nowadays, based on the space available we now believe the nine holes we have is a nice test of Links Golf with many hidden and subtle dangers, requiring skill and patience to overcome. The focus of the Clubhouse is the Dr. Joe Carr room, paying tribute to one of the World’s leading Amateur Golfers of his era. Our Club is very much one where the playing of the game and competitive Golf is of primary importance. The many pennants on display in the Clubhouse attest to the Club’s golfing successes down through the years at all levels.
The Course Guide, green fees and membership categories can be had by contacting the club. Some have pointed out that the= course is short, which is indeed true, but as many have said; “Never mind the length, but feel the width”.
The 9-hole links course requires some serious course management, especially when the rough gets longer in the Summer months. From the first tee around to the 9 th green, the course guide is invaluable for those that are new to our Links course.
You can purchase a copy for your game in Nicky’s Pro – shop pre your round. You will also find here some information on our current Green-fee rates for visitors on weekdays and Weekends.
Sutton Golf club is now over 115 years old and over these years, has been steeped in much history, most notably, the achievements of our most famous member J.B. Carr. Most fittingly, the club have a dedicated room to him and a great number of his many many achievements. Any trip to the Club by a visiting member is incomplete without visiting the Dr. Joe Carr room. A short history of the club is available in this area of the site also.
The Restaurant we have is now very popular amongst members and indeed non - members alike! The food is always delicious and the view is equally worth feasting your eyes on. You can savour what we can claim to be the best view of Ireland’s eye and Howth Head from the restaurant and bar that overlooks the 9 th Green and course. This view is spectacular during the day, but equally so at night-time.
