It is a small pleasant and well-kept place.
Freshford has a lovely village green that forms the centre of activities there and provides a lovely ambience to the village.
Freshford was the site of an early Christian church founded by Saint Lachtain in 622.
It is located in the centre of the village on the R693 road.
The Romanesque doorway of St Lachtainss Church of Ireland church in Freshford is one of only two such portal designs remaining in the country, the other being at Clonfert.
The sandstone doorway is all that is left of the original church which was built in 1100.
