The castle is located beside the village of Newmarket-on-Fergus in County Clare, just north of Shannon International Airport.

It is a sister castle to Ashford Castle in Cong, County Mayo.

The Castle grounds and woodlands are perfect for exploring on foot or on horseback.

Horse Riding lessons are available at the nearby stables.

Fishing and Boating on Dromoland Lake are also hugely popular among guests and, as with all of the activities, can be arranged in advance.

For those wishing to relax or revitalise, the Leisure Centre offers a 17-metre Pool, Sauna and Jacuzzi while the brand new Spa is the perfect "pampering" spot for her whilst he enjoys the splendour of the magnificent 18-hole, 6845 yard championship parkland course; Clubs, buggies and equipment are available at the Pro-shop.

Dromoland Castle, one of the most famous baronial castles in Ireland, was the ancestral home of the O'Briens, Barons of Inchiquin, who are one of the few native Gaelic families of royal blood and direct descendants of Brian Boroimhe (Boru) High King of Ireland in the eleventh century.
