Knock Shrine , County Mayo

 

Knock was the scene of an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph and Saint John in 1879. The church an basilica, which is the largest church in Ireland are visited each year by thousands of pilgrims. The airport at Knock was opened in 1986 and is called Horan International Airport, named after Monsignor Horan who’s vision was of Knock as an international pilgrimage where pilgrims could visit by air from overseas. This vision has came true and is the most visited attraction in Ireland.
