Daniel O'Connell Statue , County Kerry
Daniel O’Connell was born in Cahirciveen, County Kerry, on 6th August 1775. He was called as "The Liberator" and was known in America partly for his harsh criticism of slavery, and unsuccessful calls for Irish-Americans to support the cause of the slaves.
He set up the Catholic Association which colected a fee off it's members. This fee was used to fund the political movement and also to support any evicted families.
A bronze statue of Daniel O’Connell was erected in Cahirciveen to honour his memory.
