The newest book and final one in the Sanderson Saga, "Murder and Pasta Don't Mix" , by Karin Ficke Cook (Author61), will be published by PublishAmerica sometime in late July or early August.  This is when it will go live.  Official rollout will probably be sometime around Labor Day - first week in September.  Each book in this four-part series is family-oriented, but in the mystery genre and as the stories develope, the mysteries get deeper and deeper.

Northwoods Forest Mystery began in 2003 with a trip to Bemidji, Minnesota to research my story line and get a feel for the area.  I'd had the stories in my mind for a long time and when my Post Polio became more pronounced, I decided to do what I was trained for in college and write books.  Although there isn't anything about Ireland or Europe in this one, it's a good first novel.  I learned a LOT about what to do and what NOT to do when writing a novel.  Finding a publisher was NOT easy, rejection was massive and I also learned that I must be responsible for policing my own work - something I had forgotten.  These are all things we must sometimes learn the hard way when we decide to take up a new profession.  Fortunately, each successive book was better than the last.

Death Across the Pond is the second book in the series and this takes the Sanderson family to pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Bosnia-Hercegovina.  Then they go to Rome.  Things really begin to heat up with Roan Sanderson, who is a main character, inherits an ancient estate in the North of England near Bolton-by-Bowland in Lancashire.  And throw into the story a new character - an evil assassin for hire - but who is he after?  And how many of the characters does he torture and kill?

And wouldn't you know it, these folks even inherit a cottage in Ardmore, Ireland.  In The 'Ghost' in Bolton Hall, the family and friends are on a non-stop journey around Europe, especially to the home in Bolton-by-Bowland and in Ardmore, back to Minnesota and right back to England.  In the middle of all of this, there are thefts, murders and confounded police who try desperately to solve the mysteries, to no avail.  There is plenty of activity, mayhem and love stories, plus tonnes of funny happenings to make these three books lots of non-stop fun and puzzles.

But the last book, the one which completes all the story lines, is Murder and Pasta Don't Mix.  Roan inherits another property - this one in Tuscany.  His trusted family of employees must learn about wine and olive orchards, production plus global warming and how to reclaim a non-producing property into one which will provide employment and growth to an entire region.  But woven into this story are the murders of several beloved characters, betrayal of a trusted friend and stolen weapons and jewels.  I won't say how this ends..could this one also have a cliff hanger, even if it's the last book in the series?  Perhaps.

All books are available throughout the world from PublishAmerica.com, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.com and over 15,000 brick and mortar stores in paperback and hardcover.

Now, since I have shamelessly plugged my work, let's hear from the other authors.  I happen to know we have at least two others of you here.  Tell us all about your stories, your genres, etc.  What type of books, stories, poetry, etc. are you writing.  Are you published?  And how does Ireland fit into your work?  Perhaps some of the readers of this site have Irish story ideas we can work on?  Come on, join in the fun!!  Laughing

Here's a plot for you: The Characters from NCIS have to solve the murder of a Marine in Greater Manchester. During the course of the investigation Ziva beets the crap out of Manchester United fans (leaving a dozen or so in a large pile by the side of the road). and Tony is chased by a bunch of sex-starved women with more than a screw loose. Gibbs annoys the Chief Constable and McGhee accidently cracks the case by hacking into the Piccadilly Hotel's computer.

Starting to work on my long-anticipated historical novel about a murder during the re-inactment of the Battle of Bosworth Field. The contemporary character who portrays Richard III (who dies during the battle anyway) dies for real and his friends must figure out who really did the deed. The police aren't helping. The evidence has been trampled - naturally - and the police say their crime scene has been compromised - so nothing can be done. Now the man's friends and fellow re-inactors must follow whatever clues they can and solve the man's murder. Everyone is a suspect - even the horse! Only one police constable takes the reins of the case and runs with it! But without evidence, how can he and the others solve the murder?

Out of peanuts....bad idea. However, I found a web site, www.writing4all.ie, which is superb for authors. This is based in Dublin, but anyone can join for free. I think it has some excellent resources, so I joined. I'll see what I can glean from the site and encourage any of our authors to take a look. Every bit helps us all!!!

I normally eat peanuts in the shell when I'm working, but I ran out. I have to shake the shells out of the keyboard daily! It's hysterical. I wish I had a hamster to clean up after me! I have NO idea why I get the munchies when I am working.

Interesting what quality sleep will do for a writer. I slept 15 hours on Christmas, then woke up, wrote two book outlines and went back to sleep!! Got up in the middle of the night and wrote out a third. All I need is a decent - and honest traditional publisher - you know, the ones with editors and one who will give you a decent advance against royalties! With six finished stories, four books in the works and now with these new ones (totalling 7 books), I'll be busy forever - but somehow they need to be published and I won't go the "publish-on-demand" (or self-pub) route again. I think 2010 will demand a new keyboard, since I have destroyed this one. I have to get a new one every two years or so, because I literally wear out a keyboard and the letters off the keys!! So when you don't see me on here as often as other members, you know what I am up to....tap, tap, tap....ZZZZZZZZZ....tap, tap, tap.

When she hasn't got writer's block, Karin will be typing away through the night. I've often got up at 4.30am (the time I normally get up for work) and she's been banging away on her keyboard rather pleased that she's written x thousand words overnight! When she's got writers block it's like a grave yard in here, then it's early to bed. It'll end with a dream that she'll turn into an idea for a story.

I've stumbled into Writer's Block. I run flat out for 10-12 hours a day for weeks, then I wake up and nothing. So, for the third day - I've got nothing. I'll watch some movies, perhaps pick up a book and read a little or go back to sleep and see if that brings up any story ideas. I hate Writer's Block!

I just get wiered dreams - if I can remember them! Ususally I don't remember them and I've even been known to fall asleep while typing on my ZZZzzzzzz!!!
