Sometimes when your busy with research it can feel that you are all on your own. The task in its self can be hard at times, and feels like the journey will never end.
Take heart in that when you joined the 'Family Tree' Roots in Ireland Group, in one way you became part of an extended family.
If you have a question or just not sure about something, then just post a little note on site..and I feel sure many others will be able to encourage you and help you find the answers you need. From my homestead to all your individual homesteads 'Cead Mile Failte' as they say in Ireland.
(A Hundred Thousand Welcomes) best wishes Kate

Welcome Chuck,
Okay, first of all Gaelic (Gaeilge) is the generic term for the language spoken in Wales, Scotland and Ireland (until recently also Cornwall). The language you seem interested in is the Irish Language, a variation of Gaelic. Some of the following web sites may be of help:

https://ww5.pimsleurapproach.com/search3/learn-irish.asp?sid=001exactseoIrishA_msn&Network=Search&kw=irish language&ad={creative}&SiteTarget={placement}&s_kwcid=TC-6809-1539212972-e-253948465

http://www.irishlanguage.net/

http://www.omniglot.com/writing/irish.htm

The first one above is looking for $10 (or just under) for its course it claims is used by the C. I. A. and F. B. I. How true this is I haven't a clue.

If you wish to do your own search you may do better with the term "Irish Language".

I hope you will find this of use.

Mick

Hello and welcome Chuck, good to have you in the group..Please do check out the websites I have posted re; research links..do let me know if you have any other sites you have tried.
Meanwhile I will search out a few sites on Gaelic for you. And you can explore your own search engine by typing in; 'Gaelic Language online'
Midwest Irish Radio via the internet has presenters that also have links on their front page...

I would also like to learn Gaelic. Does anyone have any good ideas how to learn such a majestic and historic language? I have heard and been given some phrases to add to e-mails and to cards and letters, but to tell you the truth I don't know if I have been given correct info. I would love to study it and learn it.

Hello Everyone from Parker Colorado, USA. Our family is from Ireland. We have a variety of Boylans, Callahans and Fitzgeralds. I have some research on the Boylans but not much. I only know my grandfathers Peter and Patrick. I will have to look up the rest. I believe we are from Counties Cork and Cavan? not sure. I have been trying to get some info and find out if we still have live relatives left in Ireland.

Kate calling by to ask group members how the research is going? . You may find at this time of year relatives far and wide recall memories and tales, that will help you, so make sure you keep a record of any details. Meanwhile do you have any Christmas or New Year past memories to share. Do you by chance have your own family tradition that you repeat every year?
I love going to the Carol Concerts held by the local Churches....and when the younger members start singing....aah!! tear drops for sure.

Kate sending a belated 'Welcome' greetings to our latest members irishlove and Frank OBrien, by now you may have explored some of the 'Research Links' I find that if you post basic info requests on say three or four sites. It gives you the chance of making links with others searching the same surnames.
If I can be of any help, please do drop me a pm, via the site..meanwhile wishing you a great week ahead..lots of lovely letters and emails with new data for your family tree. cheers Kate
