Kerry Win Again!
Wel you have to hand it to those guys from Kerry. Even after a bad start with Cork making the early moves and by the 11th minute leading by five points, 1-3 to 0-1, Kerry didn’t panic.
The Kerry players simply played the better more skilful football with all of them running into positions of support. In the second half Cork may have had a lot of possession but failed to get decent apsses into the full forward line. Unlike Kerry forwards there was no movement into space and methods to open up play. It all got congested and then Kerry would break free, make a few passes and then take their points.
Kerry won their fifth All-Ireland this decade, making it one of the most successful eras in the county’s history. Jack O’Connor’s decision to take the risk of coming back has been rewarded with the ultimate vindication.
How do they do it?, How can they keep the hunger going? Is it tradition? Is it in the blood? I am not sure of the answers but all other counties must respect the skillful way this team plays football and yet again perish at the thought of another year that the likes of Colm Cooper, Declan O’Sullivan and Tommy Walsh will be there as they are young men and have many more years in their legs.
Well done to the Kingdom, we pay are respects to you!
